In our last preview we talked about new weapons and spells. If you missed it go to read it here!
Venture owes a high visual impact, mostly due to its wonderful paper miniatures. In our forthcoming expansion we’ve added some of them which are both functional to the game and nice to look at, let see them.
• Double Doors: as name implies, double doors occupy two squares. When the Heroes find a double door, their tactic should change accordingly. The door can not be blocked by the tank only, it needs two heroes to block it and protect Heroes who prefer ranged attack (such as the wizard or the newly added Ranger). On the other side, if are monsters to block the room, it will be easier to break in the room for the barbarian.
• Columns: These high miniatures can block a single square and cannot be jumped over with the Boots of Jumping.
• Locked Chests: these are similar to normal chests, but are locked and the Heroes must have special equipment or spells in order to open them. Of course these chests contain more treasure than a normal chest.
• Gelatinous Cube: this is not a piece of furniture, it is part of an event card, but it is really cool!
We have added some event cards to provide more challenge for the heroes (and more fun for the Evil Keeper). Some of these cards are really nasty, such as the aforementioned gelatinous cube. The squishy cube envelopes one or more adventurers and slowly liquify their gears. When gears are gone, it will start to eat flesh... if the Heroes don’t kill it before, of course. Other nasty evet card include Fanatism which make minions stronger, or Snatch which allows the Boss to snatch one piece of equipment. A bunch of random encounters have also been added, just to update the event cards to the new monsters.
This article concludes our next expansion previews, thanks for being with us, and see you at the game table with Venture: Of Heroes and Monsters!
